Great Fête a Great Success Our Great Summer Fête was a magnificent success. On a glorious June day, large crowds thronged the grounds of the Old Rectory and the adjacent road (closed for the occasion). The cream tea stall was constantly busy and the warm weather ensured the popularity of the ice cream van and bar too. The many children's activities kept the smaller guests happy which ensured the whole family stayed. There was early excitement as the Red Arrows flew overhead trailing smoke.
Many thanks to the large number of people who worked so hard preparing and on the day.
Our Rector at the General Goods stall.
Second Churchwarden Elected Mark Leggott has kindly agreed to join Gill Green as Churchwarden of All Saints Beckingham. This fills the office that has been vacant for several years. .
Attendances Up For the year to March 31st 2009, attendances are up for the group or churches including All Saints' Beckingham. Rector Alan Megahey told the Annual Meeting that attendances at all the churches in the group has exceeded 5,000 for the first time in at least a decade. In his report, Alan goes on:-
Christmas Cheer Our Christmas carol service was again very well attended. We had a joyful celebration with well loved carols and followed it with mince pies and mulled wine at the Old Rectory. We were pleased to offer our collection to help a children's home in Zimbabwe.
Evening Harvest Festival - Saturday 27th September 2008
The service was also our special event for "Back to Church" where churches offered an extra special welcome to anyone who had once had a connection with the church but had not been to a service recently.
Our photo shows some of the children's ideas and pictures. The service was followed by tea and cakes.
Pets' Service - Sunday 10th August 2008 Dibley came to Beckingham as a congregation of people and pets (dogs, tortoise, hamster and a few toy animals) process to the church singing, "All Things Bright and Beautiful" This well-attended service reflects a decision by the Parochial Church Council to provide interesting and innovative forms of worship with an emphasis on families and young people.
