Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Would a restored church only be of
use to devout Christians?
A: NO. Everyone will be welcome and we aim to provide things
that will attract everyone. But the building will remain a
church so everyone can know that God remains involved with all the
people of this village.
Q: This is a church. When this
appeal is over, how long will it be before you are back begging for
something else?
A: Our aim is to make the building self-supporting. We want to
reduce costs by things like installing solar panels. We want
to generate income through use of the building and its facilities.
Q: The Church of England is rich.
Why can't it pay for its buildings?
A: The running costs of the entire Church are some £900 million a
year, two thirds of which comes from voluntary giving. Serious
cost cutting in the last decade has enabled dioceses to break even.
There are no earthly "riches", except in terms of magnificent
buildings that cost money to maintain!
Q: How can I help?
